Steampunk Ornament

I have had a package of stained glass cobbs in my craftroom closet for so long that when I googled it for craft ideas, I couldn't even find the product, lol! I thought it would work perfectly for an ornament. My image is from Gecko Galz. This lovely lady is from the Steampunk sheet. I added the word "cold" and some color with chalks. The ornament is embellished with a TH cog, a washer and some silver covered wire. It was cold the day I made this dangle. We even had a light dusting of snow, as you can see in the above picture.

I am entering this ornament in the following challenges:

Nature Lovers Owl Jar - Tuesday Alchemy DT Post

TUESDAY ALCHEMY
CHALLENGE #46
The Tuesday Alchemy Challenge this week is ANYTHING GOES. The Sponsors this week are Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps and LEJ Designs. Please check  the site for challenge rules and prizes.

For my Anything Goes DT project, I decided to use a sponsors digital stamp. This stamp is called Night Watch and it is from LEJ Designs. The stamp is a sketch drawing with a lot of detail. I colored lightly with colored pencils so I did not cover all the fine details. I then tore around my design to make it look a little more rustic. I used a little bit of tape runner to attach my design to the inside of the jar. The top is decorated with a feather, stone and a piece of bark. I wrapped a variety of fibers around the lip of the jar to give it some color and added pizazz. This would be a great gift for a nature lover.
I hope I have inspired you to create something for the ANYTHING GOES challenge at Tuesday Alchemy this week. Please visit the site and check out the wonderful creations my fellow DT members have created.

I am entering this jar in the following challenges:

Craft your Passion - #142 alter it

Ice Ornament

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR 12 DAYS OF CREEPMAS POST

I had so much fun making this ornament. I have had these stained glass cobbs in my craft closet forever! I finally found a use for them. The Gecko Galz Yahoo Group Challenge ending January 5th is do create something that represents ice. This glass cobb has a the bluish tint you see when you look at an icicle. We just happened to get snow overnight so I thought it would be fitting to photograph the ornament in some of the cold white stuff.

This steampunk image is from a Gecko Galz collage sheet. I added the word "ice" with my computer before printing it out. I then added some color with chalks. The ornament is embellished with golden colored wire and two silver cogs.

Along with the Gecko Galz Challenge, I am entering this ornament in the following challenges:

Love to Create - winter fun
Paper Playtime - #92 winter fun

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Eleven

Happy Friday everyone - it is Day 11 of Smeared & Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas!

This is one of those inexpensive wooden ornaments you get for a dollar at the craft store. I colored it with colored pencils and added some glitter glue around the edges. The image of  Edgar Allan Poe and the sentiments are from the Smeared Ink Quoth the Raven digital stamp set. Just for fun I gave Edgar some rosy cheeks. Perhaps he has indulged in too much Christmas punch.

Now it is time to jump over to Carla's Blog and see what her Day 11 creepy treat is.

Decorative Package Clips Treat Bag

I made these package clips from standard size snap style clothespins. The images are from Gecko Galz. They are from the Domino Sheet. The tag is from the Totally Chic Christmas Sheet. Check out their site. They always have giveaways and fun contests going on.

I decoupaged the designs on with Mod Podge. I then outlined the design and painted the rest of the clothespin (front and back) with metallic gold paint. I gave them a coat of varnish to make the paper more durable and stain proof. I found some cream colored iridescent buttons in my button stash and used Ranger's dimensional glue to adhere them to the clothespin.

The clips can be used to hold a bag closed or you can use them to decorate a package. They are functional and fun to make.

I am entering these clips and gift package in the following challenges:

To create my cracker, I wrapped a toilet paper roll with red burlap and tied the ends with some red and white eyelash yarn. I then tied on some greenery and a snowflake button and little golden bell. The image is from Gecko Galz. This beautiful vintage woman in all her winter finery is from the Chic Christmas sheet.

I hope you have been inspired to create your own cracker and submit a photo to the challenge. Make sure you put something wonderful inside so you can then gift your cracker. This one is filled with chocolate covered cherries, yum!

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Ten

This is Day 10 of the 12 Days of Creepmas on Smeared & Smudged. Today I created a candy cane monster.

To make this little monster I first engineered a candy cane tripod with three candy canes. I used washi tape to hold them together. I then resized and colored the candy corn monster from the Smeared Ink Candy is Dandy digital stamp set. I made a little santa hat from felt and dressed it up with a white pom-pom and some shiny tinsel yarn. Wouldn't these make great placecard holders for your family Christmas dinner? Well maybe not, lol!

Please shriek over to Carla's blog to see what Christmas creepiness she has in store for you today!

Snow Angel Ornament - Tuesday Alchemy DT Post

TUESDAY ALCHEMY
CHALLENGE #45
The Tuesday Alchemy Challenge this week is ANYTHING BUT A CARD.  Please check  the site for challenge rules and prizes.

I wanted to try making one of the pleated rosette ornaments I have seen popping up on the web. I found an easy tutorial here. You can use any type of paper to create these pretty ornaments. I like to repurpose so I used two pages from a damaged book. I spritzed my ornament with golden glimmer mist. My image is a rubber stamp from PSX dated 1995. I just love this little snow angel. I colored my image with colored pencils and chalks. I inked the edge of the circle and my twine to age them some. I used some glitter on his wings and a golden rhinestone to make the star shine. The card is also embellished with green burlap for some texture.

I hope you have been inspired to create something for this weeks ANYTHING GOES Challenge on Tuesday Alchemy. Please also check out the wonderful creations my fellow design team members have created.

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Nine

It is Day 9 of the 12 Days of Creepmas at Smeared & Smudged. Today I am showing off a skellie snowman.

My skellie snowman started off as one of those cheap wooden crafts you get in the $1 bin. I painted it white and then had fun creeping it out. Today is a Smeared Ink day, so I used the skull from the Quoth the Raven digital stamp set by Smeared Ink. I embellished with some arms from a plastic skeleton, pine garland, a spider and his web. You are not likely to see a snowman like this in any of yards in my neighborhood, lol!

Next on the blog roll is Carla...let's see what creepiness she has created over the weekend for our Monday delight!

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Eight

It is the eighth day of the 12 Days of Creepmas at Smeared & Smudged. Today I decided to share a sweet treat with you!

I made a package topper with an image from one of my favorite digital stamp companies - Smudgetastic. She is called "night of the demons". The words "the sweetest treat" are from Smeared Ink (Candy is Dandy set).  I used MS Paint and colored pencils to color the image.

My skulls were detached from a Halloween necklace and mounted on flat toothpicks that I painted to look like candy canes. I placed them inside a bag with some Buffalo snow. The package is also embellished with washi tape and a sequin snowflake. Crafting for Creepmas has been so much fun!

I used a Strange Skin digital stamp called fangtastic vampire girl. I colored her with colored pencils and blended with mineral spirits. I mixed red dye with Rangers dimensional glue to create the blood drips. The drips are 3D and look almost real. I chalked on some black shadows around the edge of the card to grunge it up. I added a strip of felt bats that I received as a gift at Halloween for an embellishment.

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Seven

Today is Day Seven of the 12 Days of Creepmas. It is a Smeared Ink day so I used the digital stamp called Anatomy Skull Front for my image.

I went rummaging around the thrift store again and found the above pictured moose sleigh. I knew immediately that I wanted to distress it and grunge it up for Creepmas. I crackle painted it brown and then sanded it. I distressed my skeleton and the sleigh sign by scrunching, tearing and dripping paint on them. I don't know if you would call this project distressed or distressing...lol! It didn't really creep me out until I put the red nose on the skull and then...for those of you who are freaked out by clowns...it became real CREEPY!

Now please sled on over to Carla's Blog and see what creepiness she has created for Day Seven. The blog roll is on the sidebar if you get lost.

Winter Wonderland Snowflake Ornament

Isn't this just the cutest digi. She is called Emo Snowflakes Stamp from Just Some Lines. I colored her with colored pencils and added some Buffalo Snow from my stash to the brim of her hat. It sparkles almost as much as real snow. I also added some rhinestones to the snowflakes to give them some glimmer. She is mounted on a paper doily with a glittery yarn hanger. What a pretty way to decorate the tree or a wreath. It would be an easy kid friendly art project for a snowy afternoon.

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Five

Happy Sunday...today is Day Five of the Smeared & Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas!

For today's project I used a wooden snowflake that is about 12" at the longest point. My bone and skull image is a digital stamp from Delicious Doodles called Skully Christmas Wreath. I took some liberty cutting it out (yes, I am a lazy crafter), the full image has some really cool thorny boughs surrounding the skulls and bones. Check out the site for some great digital stamps.

I printed the wreath out on design paper, added some shadows with chalk and then glitzed it up with some blue and iridescent glitter. The words say "Deck the halls with skulls and bones falalalala...lalala". I've been having fun creating creepy Christmas decorations.

Now it is time to pop over to Carla's Blog to what she has created for Day Five. If you get lost, the blog roll is posted on the sidebar. Have fun!

Smeared & Smudged Creepmas - Day Four

Blog Roll

Today is day four of the Smeared & Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas. Today is a Smeared Ink Day so I used the skeleton from the As Death Plaque digital stamp to create some altered clothespin ornaments.

I printed the skeletons on three colored design papers, cut them out and laminated them for stability. I added the word "ho" to each to make up the "HoHoHo trio". They will look so creepy on my tree.

Now it is time to creep over to Carla's Blog to see what ghoulishness she has created for Day 4 of Creepmas.

I am entering these altered clothespins in the following challenges:

Smudgy Antics -alter something
